Stage 1 Porridges โ€“ First Foods (6 Months+)

The first spoonful is a milestone โ€” and it should be as simple as possible. Stage 1 is where solids begin, usually around six months, and the guidance from paediatricians is consistent: start with one single grain at a time, wait three days before introducing the next, and watch how your baby responds. Single grains make it obvious what agrees with your little one and what doesn't.

These are our Stage 1 porridges: organic sprouted ragi, oats and brown rice, each on its own. Nothing blended, nothing added โ€” no salt, no sugar, no preservatives, no thickeners. Just one grain, sprouted and ground into a powder that cooks smooth in minutes.

Sprouting matters more than it sounds. Germinating the grain before drying and grinding breaks down phytates that block mineral absorption, which means the iron and calcium in that bowl are actually available to your baby rather than passing through. It also makes the starch easier for a brand-new digestive system to handle โ€” the reason sprouted porridge tends to sit better in small tummies than plain flour does.

Ragi is the traditional South Indian first food for good reason: it carries more calcium than almost any other grain. Oats bring gentle soluble fibre. Brown rice is the mildest of the three and often the easiest starting point for cautious eaters.

Every batch is certified organic and lab-tested in-house to BIS standards. If you're not sure where to begin, the 50g trial packs let you try three varieties before committing to a full pack.
